Two Japanese, arrested in connection, with the murder oi Koreans after the earthquake, were sentenced to two years’ imprisonment, but the sentences were suspended. To account for the leniency, it is explained that the court took consideration of the fact- that the murderers were practically insane with terror owing to the earthquake. NO RACIAL HATRED. The newspapers are urging that the fullest reparation bo made to the famij lies of the murdered Koreans, and expressing the deepest contrition in the name of the nation for the insane actions of the mob. They claim that the actions of a few crazed or insane persons are not indicative of racial hatred, and quote instances of Japanese risking their lives to save Koreans from the lynchers.
