TANGIER DISPUTE
MAINTAINING “OPEN DOOR.” AMERICA’S REQUEST. Australian and N.Z. Cab!* Association. WASHINGTON, October 24. Mr C. E. Huglie6, Secretary of State, has sest two Notes to the British, French, and Spanish Governments, insisting upon respect of American righto and the maintenance of the open door at Tangier. One communication, dispatched today, reminded the Powers that, while the United States has no political interest in Morocco, it has definite privileges and rights under the Act of Algeciras. The Note concluded: “The United States presumes that at the forthcoming conference regarding Tangier nothing will be done to interfere with these rights and principles of equal opportunity.”
