SELECTION OF NEW ROUTE.

GISBORNE, October 24. Replying to a telegram of protest from Mr Lysnar, M.P., concerning the survey now being made for the railway from Waikokqpu to Gisborne in place of the authorised line Gisborne-Wairoa, via Xgatapa, the Minister for Public Works states that he is desirous of selecting a route most practicable from the point of view of development, service. and construction. Each likelv route will be inquired into and tested.
