TO-DAY’S EXHIBITION.

A SPLENDID DISPLAYi. (By Telegraph—Special to "N.Z. Times/') MASTER-TON, October 23. The Wairarapa P. and A. Society opens its forty-sixth annual show at Carterton tomorrow, and, given favouraole weather, should prove one of the best exhibitions yet held under the auspices of the society A total of 2257 entries in all have been made, which is not quite so numerous as lasi year, when a record was established. THE HORSE CLASSES. Horses in number are equal to last year, but thoroughbreds have created no competition, there being only two competitors. The harness classes are better filled, while the hacks will be a strong feature in this section. The draughts are only a small entry, the Donald Estate, and Mr A. Tocker, of Featherston being the only breeders represented. The farmers’ classes are well filled. A STRONG FEATURE.

Cattle, as usual, i§ a strong feature of this year’s exhibition, and the Wairarapa Show is well-known for its display of dairy stock. In purebred Shorthorns, John Deans, of Coalgate, Canterburj’-, and Sir Walter Buchanan, of Tupurupuru, are the only exhibitors* and W. EL White, Takapau, G. E. Allen (Taratahi), and J. McKenzie (Mesterton) in Herefords. There are no entries in Aberdeen Angus. In dairy cattle, milking Shorthorns are being shown by R. V. Brown (Weraroa), J. Do La Haye (Woodville), A. Tocker (Fcatherston), and W. C. Deller (Carterton). Jerseys, as usual, are a strong class and among the competitors are R. L. Horn (Ohau), Sutton and Co.. G. A. C. Elkington (Gladstone), A. Keith (Masterton), E. B. Eagle (Greytown), P. C. Anderson (Pnrkvale). J. Standen (Dalefield). Friefdans are represented by H. R. Green (Kairanga), Bloomfield Farm Co. (Upper Hutt). W. Devon (Manakau), Central Development Farm (Weraroa), O. A Cadwallader (Ahiakouka), and Mrs A M. Budd (Waihakeke). Ayrshires are being shown, by the Porirua Mental Hospital, Webb Bros. (Jvoputaroa), D. Buchanan (Tiakitaliuna), C. B Morgan (Woodville), W. Moore (Masterton), Mangatete Stud Farm (Feathereton), W. Ireland (Te Whiti), as well as a number of local breeders. Wairarapa being a dairying centre is no doubt responsible for the large number of entries received iu the milking classes.

SPLENDID ENTRY OF SHEEP. Sheep are again a splendid entry, and this year the society have added an additional covered pavilion for them. The well-known breeders, Perry and Son (Maeterton), Bland Rayner Estate (Mostcrton), W. H. Raynor, W. Howard Booth and A. E. Anderson are showing Lincolns.

Buick (Masterton), This is one of tho strongest classes m the sheep section. Southdown are an equally good class, and many who are showing Romneys are also exhibiting in Southdown*. There is better competition in the Corriedalos this venr than has boon the case for tome time at the Wairurapa *how, and include Duncan Mathoson (Clareville). T. O. Haycock (Greytown), and W H. Rayner (Masterton), The farmers’ clause* arc well filled. POOR COMPETITION. In pig*, the Porirun Mental Hospital will have no competition in many of tho classes. In bacon pigs, Daysh Bros.. H J. Brown, and W. C. Deller, of Carterton, aiv exhibitors. FULLY REPRESENTED. The dog section j.s equal to last yoar,

b<dh the farmers’ classes and the Kennel Club clashes being fully represented. HOME INDUSTRIES. The grain, cfeese, butter, school children, and home industry sections have created some good competition, but in several sections will not be as keen as it was in the record of last year.
