The German-Americans are very much stirred b.v the news of the Separatist movements in t-lie Rhineland and Bavaria. The united German societies, representing 7,500,000 GermanAmericans. have issued an appeal to their members to help Germany in her hour of peril, and to provide adequate financial assistance to set Germany upon her feet before she disintegrates. The newspapers, in editorial comment, dwell on the uncertainty of the outcome of the establishment of new republics, and indicate that the French will probably find they created a Frankenstein when they encouraged the Separatists. On Monday morning the markets reacted very appreciably to the news of the German Separatist movements in the Ruhr tvn-d Bavaria. The foreign exchanges felt a very sharp effect. Sterling reached 4.49 dollars—the lowest since November, 1922. French francs and Italian lire also dropped 5$ and 41 cents respectively. Marks reached 44 billion to the dollar. Industrial and commercial stocks were generally lower.
