The Kapiti sails for Wanganui to-day at 5 p.m. The Kapnni will leave for Patea to-day at 3 p.m. The Wairau sails for Blenheim to-day The Echo is due back from Blenheim on Thursday. The Kennedy sailed for Foxton last nigh, and after discharging there will proceed to Lyttelton. She is due back from the last-named port on Tuesday, and will then load, for Foxtont The Wakatu is due to-day from Lyttelton and Kaikoura, and will make her return trip on Thursday. The Ripple sails to-day for Napier, Gisborne, Akitio, and Castlepoint, and i 6 due back on Sunday. , Tho Invercargill sails to-day for, Wanganui, and is duo back on Friday. The Orepuki is due from Qireymouth on Thursday, and sails on Saturday on the return trip. The Opua is due on Saturday with a load of timber from Greymouth, and after discharge will go to Tarakohe to load cement. Tho John, which sailed last night for Lyttelton, will load there for Wellington, Wanganui, and New Plymouth. The Holmdale is due on Thursday from southern ports. Tile Wingatui is due from southern ports on Friday to load for Auckland. The Opihi was to have left Dunedin yesterday for Wellington, via Timaru and Lyttelton. She is dud here on Friday, and will then load for New Plymouth. The Kamo, from Bluff, is due on Monday to load for Gisborne and Napier. The Ngahere sails for the West Coast to-day to load for Wellington. The Corinna left Wellington last night for New Plymouth, where she will load for this port. Tho Waverley sails at noon to-day for Patea. The Alexander is due early this morning from Nelson, and will sail for Westport, Greymouth .and Hokitika at 5 p.m. to*<lay. WAIHEMO AT APIA. The Union. Steamship Company advise that the Waihemo, from San Francisco, arrived at Apia on Sunday and will leave there on Wednesday in continuation of her voyage to Napier, Wellington, Lyttelton and New Plymouth. TAINUI FOR TIMARU. The Shaw, Savill and Albion Company advise that the Tainui. which is loading at Bluff, will leave there to-day for Timaru and Wellington, and is due here on Saturday, and sails finally on November 3rd for London, via Monte Video and Teneriffe. PAKEHA AT DUNEDIN. The Shaw, Savill and Albion Company advise i hat the Pakeha arrived in Dunedin yesterday to complete discharge of London cargo. She will afterwards load in New Zealand ports, and bo dispatched for London via Monte Video and Teneriffe early in December. CANTERBURY STEAMERS. Messrs Turnbull and Co. advise the following movements: — The Gale is due back from Wanganui on Friday, and sails the same day for Lyttelton, Timaru, and Dunedin. The Breeze is due on Friday from southern ports, and sails the samo day for Wanganui. The Calm is due from tho 6outh on Thursday, and, sails the 6ame day for Wanganui. The Storm will not be in Wellington for some time. She is at present at Westport, and will proceed to Lyttelton find southern ports -before coming to Wellington. CITY OF BIRMINGHAM. The Federal Company advise that the City of Birmingham will leave Napier on Friday for Wellington, New Plymouth, Lyttelton and Dunedin. She will clear the latter port for Sydney. She will make her departure rofm Wellington on Wednesday. PORT NAPIER DUE/ FRIDAY. The C. and D. lino advise that the Port Naxtfor should arrive hero on Friday from Wanganui She should 1 clear Wellington on Monday for Gisborne and Auokland, from where she will sail final iy on November 4th for London, via Cape Horn DORSET'S MOVEMENTS. The New Zealand Shipping Company advise that th© Dorset, which arrived in Auckland on October 20th, is timed to clear the northern port on Friday for Wellington, where she is due on Monday. From here she goes to Lyttelton, Dunedin and New Plymouth. REMUERA REPORTED. The New Zealand Shipping Company advise that the Remuera wifi arrive in Auckland on Friday. She left Southampton on September 20th for Auokland Wellington and Timaru, and is’due at this port about November sth.

H.M.S. LABURNUM AT LYTTELTON, a^es encountered by xi.M.b., Laburnum, which arrived at LytmiL Thursday morning from Napier. The sloop, which left the no* them port at noon on Monday, suffered no damage. No seas came aboard, but the spray was flying over tho ship. At times sbe was practically hove-to. The ship will be in Lyttelton till November 12th, during which time surveys will be made of the harbour approaches. Commander F. K. Smyth is now in command, and his officers are Lieutenants J. S. Payne, C. It H Churchill, F. S. Benny, Surgeon-Lieutenant-commander J. A. Watson, En-gineer-Lieutenant E. Brown, Gunner W. H. Lake. TONIC FROM HOME. The lonic, which cleared Southampton oa September 14th, arrived in Wellington at 2.10 p.m. yesterday, and berthed at the Queen's wharf. She experienced rough weather for the first four or five days of the voyage, but after that ran into smooth 6eas, and made up for lost time, The heat experienced in the tropics was very trying, but after passing Pitcairn Islaiid on the 13th the weather was milder. On the whole, said Mr E, M. Lancaster, the purser, to a ‘'Times" the trip was most enjoyable, arid throughout those on board were a very happy family.
