OVER 300 IMMIGRANTS ABOARD

The Shaw, Savill Company’s Home liner lonic arrived in Wellington yesterday afternoon from Southampton, and berthed at the Queen’s wharf. She cleared the English port on September 14th, and experienced rough weather for the first week and last a little time. Fino weather was encountered from then on, however, and up to the time they reached Pitcairn, on the 13th instant, tlie heat was intense. For the rest of the voyage the leather was very agreeable Speaking to a “Times” reporter yesterday the chief purser, Mr E. M. Lancaster, said that the voyage had been most, enjoyable. Everyone had enjoyed the best of health, .and throughout they were a happy family. Commenting upon the immigrants on board lie said that they were an exceptionally fine lot. and he thought they would’make good citizens in tins country. The vessel carried 28 first saloon passengers, 83 second saloon, and 392 steerage. She leaves for Lyttelton today.
