A remarkable angling record has ben created by 3lr .1. Spencer, of Eastbourne, who is over 7<> years of age. For the ta—t IS years be lias fished from the pier six hours a day. six days a week, winter and summer, without a break, and whatever the weather conditions. He is looked upon as a wizard with the rod, because even at times when a hundred visitors are having n blanH day Mr Spencer cal coax the bass, codling, whiting. or the plaice on to his hooks. He i- regarded as tho angler's friend, especially when tackle gets “hung up” on the pier piles nr the catch is too big to land singlc-bandixl. In the last 2o yoajs Mr Spencer mult have caught many tote of fish.
