At the annual conference of th<» Master Builders* Federation of lasla, Mr Clement Langford, in Ins presidential address, stated that 90 per cent, of the industrial disputes in tho Commonwealth were attributable to the compulsory arbitration system. He said that during tiio present year had been 120 new industrial disputes, involving 38,617 workers, and causing a loss of £857,417 in wages. During the past nine years there were more strikes and industrial turmoil than in any past period in Australian history. The workers in that period lost £11,006,026 in wages.
