evening sports.

The first of a series of evening sports was held on the domain on Monday, but owing to the fact that the weather was unfavourable the attendance wae not large. Those present, however, showed keen interest, while the races were well contested. Mr Harold Taylor acted as both starter and handicapper, but with the latter position was assisted by Mr W. H. Reynolds. Considering the form of the competitors was not known, the handicapping proved very creditable, while the starting was all that could be desired. Following are the results:— lOUyds Handicap (for trophies presented bv Messrs J. McGill and E. Larsen)—Leo. li'owdon, 10yds, 1; F. Cook, 10yds, 2: W. Fairley, 2yds, 3. Also started: Enoka (scr). Gawler (4yds), Podjursky (4yds), Watts (7yds), Keall <loyda). Bowden was among the first out, was never beaded, and won by three yards. Cook also ran well, while Fairley was dose np. Time, 10 2-ssec, 440yds Handicap (for trophies presented bv Messrs H. Taylor and H. Nicolson)— Bindley, 30yds, 1; Lima, 30yds, 2; Tooling. 25yds. 3. Also started: Fairley (20yds), Podjursky (20yds), Watts (80yds), anil Keall <3syds). This was a good race. Windley, followed by Teeling and Fairley, made the pace; while at the back .stretch Teeling took command and led into the straight. In the run home, however, Windley came with a good sprint and won comfortably, while Lima, with a late run, filled second position. Time, 57sec.

Hoys’ Race (for gold and silver medals presented by Mr Goodey) —A. Carter 1, Jack Nicolson 2, P. Cook 3. Won easily, with the rest of the field well together. An additional race for boys was also held, and was won by J. Garrity, Jack Nicolson second, and C. Tustin third. All finished well together. Tlie club will hold another meeting on the 29th, when there will be a boys’ nice (135yds >, and two open events (220yds and SB'>ydsi.
