WYNETTE’S DECISIVE WIN ADELAIDE MARE RUNS AWAY FROM BASING WOLD. WHITTIER FIFTH. By Telegraph.—tress Assn.—-Copyright (Received October 21, 5.5 p.m.) MELBOURNE, October 21. The weather was fine and bright foi the third day o-f the Victorian Amateur Turf Club’s meeting. The attendance wad 5 about 40,000. The going was good. The favourite, Heroic, was always prominent, and won the Nursery very easily in record time for the race. H. Cairns rode Heroic, who cost £IBOO as a yearling, and has scored two wins and one second in three starts. Cairns won last year on Col an, who is trained by Heroic’s mentor, Godby. The Caulfield Cup was a great race, in which -the honours rested with Wynette, who was fifth to last leaving the straight, and fifth at the half-mile, but came through well, and won brilliantly from Easingwold, after the latter had led for a long way. Easingwold battled on gamely to the end. Yacamunda appeared slightly to shift ground at the home turn, and ran a good third. The Cypher looked a possibility at the half-mile, but failed to run on.

The time, 2min 33scc, is one second outside the course record.

third to last. There was little alteration till Yacamunda ranged alongside Easingwold at five furlongs, where Whittier was third, Wynette sixth, The Cypher ninth, and Rivoli last. Wynette ran up to the leaders, Easingwold and Yacamunda, at the entrance to the straight, where Yacamunda lost ground. Whittier could make no impression on the leaders. In the run home, E-asjngwold showed a bold front to the inside distance, where Wynette ran away, and won by a length and three-quarters. Yacamunda finished boldly, and got third, half a length behind Easingwold. The Tyiant waa fourth, Whittier fifth, and Happy Queen, The Cypher, and Rivoli next. Switch was last. Time, 2min 33sec. The first half-mile was run in 52see. The last six furlongs took lmin 15£sec. WINDSOR HANDICAP. Of 750 sovs; six furlongs. Holicouter, 7.8 I Fa w, 6.11 2 All Serene, 7.9 3 Fourteen started.
