MOTOR-BOAT ON FIRE
FISHER’S TR YING TIME. Per Press Association. DUNEDIN, October 20. A Moeraki fisherman named Charles Sproulo had a sensational and hazardous experience. Ho had been out all night in a motor-boat, and, returning towards Moeraki, was suddenly hurled from the oabin by an explosion. iVhcn lie picked himself up the boat was afire from end to end. Though severely burned, Sproulo fought tlie flames and hoisted sail in an endeavour to reach the shore. Unfortunately the wind was adverse, and the flames had full play on Sproule’e face and airms. Ho stuck to the tiller, and managed to reach the rook under the Moeraki light, where the boat collapsed and sank. The occupant was tended by tlie light-keeper t and taken to Palmerston South Hospital.
