PLAYING AREAS WANTED. INSISTENT DEMAND ON CITY COUNCIL. Speaking at the opening of the Sear, toun howling green on Saturday, the Mayor (Mr R. A. Wright, M.P.) said the fact that bowling clubs provided their own greens did appeal to the municipality, for the CSty Council was faced with a grave problem in finding playing areas for the people in the different districts. A few years ago ladies were in the background, but now they appeared to have awakened to the fact that they had equal privileges with cricketers, bowlers, and other sportsmen, and were calling on the City Council in all directions to provide them with greens for croquet, tennis, etc. The council was doing the best it could for them with the money available, but it was insufficient, and it was a great relief that the bowler® provided their own greens, independent of municipalities or Government.
