EVANS BAY ROAD

LAND DEDICATED. WIDENING TO 66 FEET. At tho adjourned meeting of tho Wellington City Council yesterday the leaseholds and legislation committee reported that the city solicitor and acting city engineer had conferred v. ith the "engineer of the Harbour Hoard with reference to the dedication of land in Eva as Bay road by Mrs Howarth. The engineer of the Harbour Hoard pointed out that under section 4 of the Wellington Harbour Hoard Reclamation and Empowering Act, 1908, the corporation was entitled to a road 60 feet wide from a short distance on the north side of the latent Slip to the reclamation at tvi!birnio, the right* of the corporation being set out in the provision above mentioned. It was agreed by all officers present That the best course to adopt was to prepare a plan showing what would be required to complete a 06 feet road, taking the existing lines shown on land transfer plans as the boundaries of the pronerty fronting Evans Bay road, and that this should be* declared street. The city solicitor is of opinion that this hind can he declared street, and Mrs Howarth’s dedication closed and r< turned to h f, r under the provisions of the* Land Act, 1908, and its amendments. The committee recommended that the plan h»; prepaied, and that steps he taken ur.der the Land Act to give c/Focc to the city solicitor’s rc-comn'-ndation The recommendation was adopted.
