BOXING
BLACKBURN v. VOLAIRE. In connection with the important boxing conference which is being' held in Wellington on the 30th instant, the local association announces an amateur and fTofessional tournament, the chief attrao ion of which will be a fifteen-round com test between Blackburn, of Auckland, and Volaire. With iwo such vigorous boxers a splendid contest may well be looked for. There will be four amateur preliminaries, including a special sixround bout between Mcßae and McCormick, the holder of the heavyweight championship. This will be the first lime the former has been eeen in notion for a considerable time, and particular interest attaches to the meeting. The box plan will open on Wednesday morning, and as the usual low prices are being maintained, there is sure to be a keen demand for seats. Intending patrons should make a point of booking eariy.
