ROWING
INTERPROVINCIAL FOURS. RACE DESCRIBED AS A FARCE PrACfi AvaoAfution. CHRISTCHURCH, October 19. At the annual meeting of the Canterbury .Association Mr R. J. Hobbs (Canterbury Club) ©poke in connection with tho interprovincial "fours/' Last year, ho said, it was practically a farce and if the race was properly competed for it could bo made a really good thing. Ho contended that if the New Zealand Council could take it over and run it, as it should be run, it would increase competition considerably. Several members spoke as to the uselessness of the race as it was rowed at present, and it was suggested that an interislnnd race should take its place. It was decided that it be a recommendation to the New Zealand Amateur Rowing Association that as the interprovincial "fours*' has not, in the opinion of tho Canterbury Association, proved truly a representative event, the race be discontinued. It was decided to support the Marlborough Association's Application to have the 1923-24 New Zealand championship regatta allocated to the Marlborough Association and to be rowed on Picton harbour.
