CRICKET JOTTINGS
Season Opens To-day
Importance of Bowling and Fielding
To-day, if the weather holds, the Wellington clubs will play the first games of the 1923-24 season. Owing to the wretched climatic conditions, the majority of the players will be handling the bat for the first time this season, so there will be plenty of chances for the bowler who can strike a length, as he will also have the help of the wicket. Most of the teams will be filled with a majority of last year’s players, although in some there will be a sprinkling of promoted juniors.
