SEAMAN S DESERTION FROM VESSEL “GOING BLIND.’* Yesterday at the Magistrate's Court Alleu Douglae Gordon stepped into the dock to face a charge of unlawfully deserting from s.s. Kia Ora, while being a duly articled seaman. Inspector Cummings stated that Gordon had detierted from the vessel in March last. Through his desertion the \essel was held up from six o’clock in the morning until 10 o’clock, and expense* had been incurred up to the amount of £5 14s.
