SPACE FOR TENNIS
BIG MIRAMAR SCHEME. PROTEST. A deputation from the executive of the Wellington Lawn Tennis Association waited on the City Council last night to protest against the proposed resumption by the council of 2} acres of ground comprised in the' portion (about 114 acres in extent) of the city 'property at Miramar recently leased to the association. • After hearing the views of the tennis representatives, the . Mayor (Mr R. A. Wright) said he was sure that the council was in entire eyiqjathy with the association in its desire, to get a large sports ground for lawn tennis, and the only reason that had actuated the council in proposing to resume the 2J acres was the desire to provide some recreation space for the people of Miramar. However, the matter would have to be taken into consideration. The council would consider the representations made by the deputation, bearing in mind, as it must, the demand of other© for sport© grounds. The association would be informed of the result in due course. .
