The employees at tfie South Meibom lie and Fitzroy gas works have struck in sympathy with the West Melbourne strikers. There are now over aCOO men idle. A mass meeting of the men decided rot to return until the dispute is settled in their favour. Tho company states that the men have scrapped conciliation and resorted to direct action, qnd warns the public that the supply of gas must immediately be curtailed. The, workers at the West Melbourne yvpiks, 10Q0 in number, ceased work as a protest against the ’ refusal of the. company to put on additional mqn in each shift to cope, with increased work
