POLL OF SUPPLIERS BIG MAJORITY OF VOTES IN FAVOUR. POSTAL BALLOT INCOMPLETE All the ballot papers in connection with the voting on the Dairy Control proposals have not yet been counted, but a progress report was made last night by the chief electoral officer, and this showed a largs majority of the suppliers in favour of Control. The voting was— For Control 6199 Against 1600 POLL OF SUPPLIERS FIRST PROGRESS REPORT. ! The postal ballot of dairy factory suppliers, which is to decide whether or not the Dairy Produce Export Control Act is to come into force closed at noon yesterday. Some 56,000 ballot papers were sent out io suppliers, and up to noon yesterday approximately 31,763 envelopes had beep, returned. As some of thp envelopes may contain more than one ballot paper, it is impossible to say at time of writing bow; mqny individual, suppliers have expressed themselves on the issue placed before them. The issues voted on were:— (1) I vote that the Act be brought into operation. (2) I vote that the Act be not brought into operation. If the result of the poll is in the affirmative, the Act will be brought into operation on a date. to be. specified by proclamation issued by the GovernorGeneral. . It is not expected that the counting ' of the votes will be completed before Friday night.
