UNUSUAL PROSECUTION
AGAINST NEWSPAPER, PROPRIETORS.
ANONYMOUS LETTER AND CONCILIATION COUNCIL.
An unusual prosecution, believed to be the first of its kind in the Domin - ion, will be heard before the Arbitration Court this morning.
The charge, which is under section 115 of the Industrial, Conciliation and Arbitration Amendment Act, 1908, was laid by the inspector of factories, and the defendants are Blundell Bros., newspaper proprietors. The charge is that they “did publish matter calculated to prejudicially affect a matter before a Council of Conciliation in on that date they did publish an anonymous letter signed ‘Awahuri,” which was calculated to prejudicially affect the Hotel and Reßturant Workers and Employers’ dispute, which was then before a Council of Conciliation in accordance with the Industrial, Conciliation and Arbitration Amendment Act, 1908, and was being heard by it.”
