As many more motor ships are being, and have bee*, built in Great Britain than in any other country, it is somewhat surprising to learn that the two biggest vessels of this clasts now in service are of German construction. "The Motor Ship" publishes details of the second largest oil-engined craft in the world, which has just been completed. This is a tanker with a carrying capacity of about 14,000 tons of liquod fuel, and is intended for the transport of oil from the United States to Germany. It is satisfactory to note, however, that far larger internal-combustion-cngined ships are now under construction in this country, including four passenger liners, varying from 17,000 to 20,000 tons .displacement. Germany will, nevertheless, be responsible for the world’s largest motor . cargo-carryinv vessels, since two of tlii? type are now on the stocks of a Hamburg- shipyard, each with a deadweight capacity of'nearly 21,000 tons.
