AN ALLEGED JOKE. For Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, October lb. In the Magistrate’s Court, Joßeph Nieholls was fined £5, in default a month’s imprisonment, for stating ho was u detective. Accused said he did it for a joke, hut the magistrate said that a mao with such a list of previous convictions must have some ulterior motive.
