A message from Pana, in Illinois, states that six men died and three are nearly dead as the result of drinking poisonous liquor which they obtained from an establishment ostensibly licensed to sell only soft drinks. Fusel oil and wood alcohol were the poisons which caused the death, according to the coroner’s verdict following on an inquest. All victims were men of family, and included the son of the proprietor of the establishment.
The coroner’s jury has indicted four persons for murder, including the proprietor, his sons, and the local chemist, who has disappeared.
