“STIFFY” AND "MO”
ENTHUSIASTIC FAREWELL AT HIS MAJESTY’S. The farewell given by Saturday night’s audience at His Majesty’s Theatre to the “Stiffy” and “Mo v Revue Company provided one of the most spontaneously enthusiastic scenes witnessed at the Fuller house. The company concluded a thirteen-weeko* season here, after a record % of sixteen weeks in Auckland, and now proceed to Dunedin. There was not a vacant seat on Saturday night, and nil boxes wore occupied. Members of the company, Misses Qucenio Paul, Dot Davis, Gladys Shaw, and ballet girls were inundated with presents, floral and personal, and the audience’s approval made the presentations notable of their kind. Even tho male members were not forgotten, and Messrs Roy Rene (“Mo”) and Nat Phillips (“Stiffy”) had to make speeches in response to the audience’s clamorous demands. Given in their own inimitably humorous style, their wcll-choeen words of appreciation and farewell were good to hear. From a bank of flowers, baskets, packages, chocolates, and other offerings, streamers were* thrown out, and after the singing of “Auld Lang Syne,” the curtain descended on a memorable sight. The intimation by Mr Nat Phillips that the company would eventually return to Wellington was received with delightful salvoes of applause.
