MINISTERIAL Tlie TTon. J. G. Coates (Minister foi Public Works and Railway*) returned to Wellington on Saturday, having completed bis tour of inspection of the Taranaki district. He will be leaving in a week or ten days’ time for a similar tour of the South Island.

The Hon. C. J. Parr (Minister for Just-ice and Education! left Wellington on Saturday night for the South Island, where he is to visit several centres on departmental business. He expects to return to Wellington about the end of next week.

Dr. C. Ncwill. of Christchurch, with Mrs Nedwill, and their son, have returned from a visit to Great Britain.

Mr D. L. McKay, assistant district Public Trustee at Auckland, is relieving the district Public Trustee at Hamilton.

Mr M. F. Instone, stores audit inspector at Auckland, has been promoted to be audit examiner at Christchurch.

Messrs M. W. Stevenson and P. S'. Canoll, of Wellington, and Mr J. R. Williamson, of Dunedin, are visiting Auckland.

The Rev. C. Abemethy, who has visited the Old Country and France, lias left England on his return journey to the Dominion.

Air Justice Frazer, and Mr W. Scott and Mr H. Hunter, of the Arbitration. Court, arrived in Wellington on Saturday from Gisborne.

Mr Marcus Mark*, late Government Printer, and a member of the Victoria Bowling Club, wrote from London wishing them a pleasant time at the opening of the green, and a prosperous season.

Mr E. H. Wyles. manager for Messrs W. Strange and Co., Ltd., has cabled that he-hopes to leave London for New Zealand about October 26th, and should be in Christchurch in the middle of December.

Speaking of the death of Mr Bert Manning, secretary of the Victoria Bowling Club, at th© opening of th© green on Saturday. Mr C. J. B. Norwood said he became attached to the members directly he joined, and- was always at their services. At th© time of his death he was in the midst of sport and happiness, and were he with them then would only wish them all to be liappv together.

Sympathetic reference was made by Mr C. J. B. Norwood, when opening Victoria bowling green on Saturday, to the death of Mr D. T. Stewart, a foundation member of the club, and whom they had regarded as one of Nature’s gentlemen. Although not able to participate in games so much of late year* on account of his health, he had shown his interest by being present whenever he could.
