CONCLUSION OF MASTERTON MEETING
OPAKI HANDICAP WON BY KILBIRD QUEST SCORES VERY EASILY THIS WEEK’S RACING AT TRENTHAM DUNEDIN AND WHANGAREI MEETINGS ■Beautiful weather favoured the Masterton Club on Smrurday for the conclusion of its spring meeting. The day was fine and warm, but the course was very heavy. Speculation was brisker than on the opening day, but still was very light. On the two days £]Q,?7o was put through the machine, which is £2950 10s less than the amount registered at the spring fixture a year ago. Good racing was the order of the day, and again there were some close finishes. The Dunedin meeting was continued in fine weather, and some good racing was seen. Wild Hind won the Guineas, The Polymnian second. Angelo scored in the Ranfurly Handicap, with Prince Ferrouz second; Lava the Dominion, and Happy Warrior the Telegraph. At Whangarei Gold Jacket won the Park Handicap, Just Quietly the. Marsden, and Sir Burnett the President’s. Reports of the various meetings will be found below.
