CABLE RATES
INQUIRY IN AUSTRALIA. REDUCTION URGED. By Telegraph.—Pres. Asm.—Copyright SYDNEY, October 12. A deputation from the Sydney Chamber of Commerce asked the Post-master-General to secure a reduction in oversea cable rates. Mr Gibson replied that he was looking into the matter. He promised to make investigations regarding the request that cable messages from New Zealand should be received and delivered by the cable companies concerned, instead of through the Post Office as at present.
