EXTENSION IN LATIN-AMERICA. FURTHER RESTRICTIONS. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association (Received February 5, 8.25 p.m.) NEW YORK, February 5. Further extension of prohibition sentiment in Latin-America is . foreseen in the announcement of the agenda of the forthcoming fifth Pan-American Conference in March, which provides for the consideration of measures to secure the progressive' diminution of the consumption of alcoholic beverages. The United States at present i® the only country to participate in the conference having nation-wide prohibition, but various other Central and South American countries 'have partial prohibition. In Chile and Peru there is an extremely active campaign in favour of prohibition being carried out. There is a law prohibiting the sale of liquors on Saturday and Sunday, and always in the mining regions. Other Latin-American nations also have laws for the restriction of the dale of intoxicating beverages. It i® expected -the Conference will result in a programme of further restrictions.
