BEST ALL-ROUNDER
AN ATHLETIC TEST. The East Sydney Amateur Athletta Club have written to the New Zealand Council" of the Amateur Athletio Association respecting a proposed Decathlon championship at the next Australasian championships, this for the purpose of discovering the best all-round man, who may be given an opportunity of competing at the next Olympic Games. The performances of Lovland, of Norway, who won the Decathlon at the 1920 Olympic Games, were as follow, the best performances being given in parentheses:—loo metres, 12sec (11 2-osec); 161 b shot put, 36ft BJin (38ft ljln); high jump, sft sin (oft B|in); 110 meters hurdles, 16 1-osec (16 l-seec); 440 meters. 54 4-ssec (52 2-ssec); discus, 122 ft 6in (123 ft 11 Jin); pole vault, 10ft 6in (lift ljin); javelin throw, 157 ft 81in (161 ft 9|in); 1500 meters rull. 4min 48 2-oG.ec (4min 45 3-ssec).
