EARTH UPHEAVAL

TIDAL WAVES IN HAWAII. VOLCANOES ERUPT. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Received February 5, 12.5 a.m.) NEW YORK, February 3. Local seismographs record terrific earth upheavals 5000 miles away, probably in the bed of the Pacific. Dispatches from Hawaii report that four tidal waves are inundating the land for a large distance inland, and many islands, and are swamping fishing boats and causing loss of life. It is belieped that thus far ten Japanese have been cut off from communications. Volcanoes which were believed to he extinct have begun to erupt, hut with minor intensity.
