SMITH LEADS NEWMAN. FALKINER. AHEAD OF INMAN. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Received February 4, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, February 3. In the four games of the senes of five; of which T. I. Newman and W. Smith have each won two, Newman leads by 229 on the aggregate scores, and has also the highest break, 927, against Smith’s 731. The fifth game, now proceeding at Manchester, resulted in big breaks during the week, Smith’s best being 715, 530, 540, and 290, and Newman’s best 510, 481. 364 and 314. The scores are: Smith 6667 Newman 6330 Falkiner overtook Inman during the week, scoring 26 breaks of over 100, aggregating 4969, against Inman’s 20, aggregating 3385. The best breaks were Falkiner’s 403, 354, 305, and 302, and Inman’s 369, 259, 258 and 193. The scores are:— Falkiner 14,309 Inman 14,255
Smith and Newman began a series of five games, each of 16,000 up, in October. Victory will be determined by the aggregate points scored. The stakes are .£SOO a side.
