The president (Mr F. Meadowcroft) presided over the usual committee meeting, which wa«B held at the secretary’s office on Monday last. It was reported that since the previous meeting numerous cases of cruelty had been investigated by the inspector. In several oases it was found that horses had been ill-used, and steps were taken to ensure better treatment for them in future. Minor cases oon coming cruelty to cattle and fowls had also been dealt with. Subscriptions and donations amount-, ing to £l6 Is 6d were acknowledged, snd these included £3 5s from Air J. H. G. Rowley, £1 Is from Oppenheimer Casing Co., and £1 from “Friend.”
