An old colonist, Mr John Campbell, died in his 79th year, at Auckland. He was the youngest son of the late Mr Archibald Campbell, and with hisi father and three brothers arrived at Auckland from Inveraray, Argyllshire, Scotland, 60 years ago, just prior to tho outbreak of the Maori War. He went through all the vicissitudes of the pioneering days of this country. Air Campbell was for some yoars iii the Government service, and upon his retirement took up his residence on the family property at Campbell’s Bar, Takapuna, where he resided for a long period.
