MURRAY, ROBERTS & CO^ “COMPETITION OF THE KEELVESiT.” The third sale of the season attracted the largest attendance of buyers yet seen here. Ail sections of the trade were present, including reprosentatives of’ AmeriCA, Yorkshire, France,. Germany, Denmark, and Japan, besides, the usual Honifnfdn mills “ and,, fell mongers. ' _ . A splendid selection was" qjfergd,. tidr onghly representative of 3fl.e. JWol. grow-, ing districts surrounding Wellington, and our catalogue included many very attractive wools. Of the 25,060 bales submitted. we catalogued 4975 bales. Many growers, no doubt, are disappointed that their clips, which arrived by the closing date, were shut out owing t*> the limit--of offering ‘Being reached ’ very early; but this was unavoidable. The more speedy motor transit facilities now bring the wool into store at such a rate that limitation of offerings to reasonable quantities is a necessity. Competition was of the keenest, especially so for any wools showing quality or superior condition. Bradfot’d bought heavily, America taking a goodly proportion of the suiier wools. The Continent was fairly active in inferior wools, especially when showing quality. French buyers competed keenly with local mills in good lambs pieces and fine halfhred. Generally speaking, prices all round show a good advance on last Wellington sale, as shown -below with range of prices. In our catalogue we sold tie following clips;— Parea, crossbred 12Jd to 12Jd; D C M. “BEST SALE OF THE SEASON.Wright, Stepheneon and Co., Ltd., xa port;— There was an exceptionally large bench of buyers present, and bidding throughout the sale was very keeu, and. as was anticipated afte£ the Napier sale, we have to report eaeilv the best sale of the season, ami growers have every reason to be satisfied with prices realised. We otirseives showed some very nice Wairarapu crossbreds, which were mostly taken by America, and practically cleared our catalogue under the hammer, with the exception of one or two cases where we were hampered with high reserves lrom the growers. As compared with the December sale, we make the following rises:—• Super merino, Ijd up; average merino, M up; average line halfbred, Id up; medium and coarse halfbred, ljd up; fine crossbred. 11l to lid up; medium crossbred, lid to 2d up; coarse crossbred. “PRICES WETJi IN ADVANCE OF LAST SALE."

3le?sr? Johnston and Co. report:—Wo„ submitted a cntakJgoe of 1500 bales to a full bench of buyers representing all. sections of the wool trade from America, Bradford, the’ Continent, Japan. Dominion mill?, and local scourer?, who competed keenly for the offering. Our selection' on the whole was above the average of light condition consisting mainly of bright lustrous crossbreds from the Wairarapa, Feilding and Maxuu watu districts America was in tbo market for well skirted light conditioned lustrous fine and medium crossbreds. Bradford was more in evidence for all good topmaking sorts Continental buyers were in the field for shabby wools of all grades French and Dominion milts competed keenly for good lambs and super pieces. Or the whale the eale must be very satisfactory to growers, prices being well in advance of the last Wellington sale of December 7th, and showed a hardening tendency compared with the recent Wanganui and Xapier sales. Several clips which averaged 6d to 7d twelve months ago averaged to-dav TIJd to 13|d, Compared with the last Wellington sale merino, 60lb to 641 b super, advanced up to lfd; *merim>. 601 b to 641 b aveiage. advanced up to I<l.
