STUD SHEEP SALE

GOOD ENTRY AT MASTERTON. ONLY BEST RAMS' SOUGHT. (By Telegraph—Special to “Times.”) MASTERTON, January 18. The Wairarapa stud sheepbreeders’ annual sale was held at the Solway showgrounds to-day. There was a good entry of tsud Romney and Lincoln, rams try of stud Romney and Lincoln rams Messrs G. E. Allen, A. El Anderson, W. H. Buick, Q. Donald, A. and J. Gray, J. E. Hewitt, Adam McKay. A. D McMaster, H. A. Matthews, Percy Bros., William Perry and Son, L. J- and G. S. Phillips, Bland Rayner, William Rayner, David Smith, A. P. Southey, and C. Wagland. There was a good attendance of buyers, but only the best rams elicited spirited bidding. The fair was opened by the offering of five pens of stud Romney ewes, on account of William Perry and Son, ot Penrose. Two pens were sold under the hammer to W. H. Gaisford, at 5 guineas and 51 guineas respectively. The other three pens did not reach the reserve. The sale of Romney rams was opened by the offering of five from Featherston, but none of these reached the reserves. On account of W. H. Buick nnd Son, Masterton. one ram was eold to Druce at. 33 guineas, and another brought 2U guineas. Of the rams offered on account ot Adam McKay, of Burnside, Masterton, none were sold. On account of. A. _un<l J. Gray,_ one ram was sold to Jamieson at 18 guineas, and others were “pasted." Bidding brightened considerably when William Perry and Son’s rams were offered. These rams were nearly all sold under.the hammer, the following prices being realised: —54 guineas and 42 guineas, to Beamish; 53 guineas, to Percy Bros.; 50 guineas and 75 guineas, • to Paul Hunter; 45 guineas, to P. Wall; 45 guineas, to W. H. Bulek; SO guineas, to Glendinning; 30 guineas, to agent for buyer; 41 guineas, to Hunt Bros.; 30 guineas, to Seddon. Rams, on account of G. E. Allen, '"Tipua,” Masterton, were sold for 62 guineas, to Holden, of Gisborne j 50 guineas, to Jameson; 15 guineas, to Jameson: 24 guineas, to Arthur Tocker. A William Rayner ram was purchased by Bremner for 43 guineas.
