The bituminous coal strike in Western Pennsylvania has ended. The Pittsburgh Coal Company, the largest independent producers of the district, has agreed to reopen, fifty-four mines; under the terms of the Cleveland agreement', which provides for a temporary wage scale, the.owners receding from their stand for lower wages. THE RAILWAY TURMOIL A FATAL AMBUSH. VANCOUVER, August 30. A message from Augusta, Georgia, etates that one of the Southern Railway guards was 'killed and another fatally wounded in an ambush of strikers.
