MAORI CHIEFTAINESS DEAD
m PRESS ASSOCIATION. 1% KUITI, August SI. It Is reported from Ongarue that Tnhutopuni Waata, an old chieftainess of the highest rank of the Manispoto tribe, aged 103, has died. Maoris are assembling in large numbers to attend the tangi. Deceased is a descendant on her mother’s side from the well-known Ngati Rongatohi Taumartnrai.
