FUTURE LOANS
AND A BRITISH OFFER GUARANTEE AND PAY INTEREST UP TQ £25,000,000. NEW ZEALAND’S OPPORTUNITY. Mr J. A. Nash asked in the Houso of Representatives yesterday afternoon whether the Prime Minister had noticed a Press cablegram announcing that the Home Government would he renewing an offer- made some time ago to guarantee loans and pay the interest up to £25,000,000 to corporations and the Dominions, provided that an undertaking was given that as far as possible British-made material would be used. It was understood that the Prime Minister would have to go on the market for a loan shortly, and Mr Nash thought that the British offer presented ub with a good opportunity, and that money raised in this way would assist to relieve .the unemployment difficulty. Mr Massey replied that he had seen the cable, but the matter was one that he had gone into exhaustively when tbe point was first brought up some time ago. The idea was to help Britain to regain the industrial supremacy of the world. He would be quite willing to get into communication with the people in Britain to get to know the -oarticulars and whether the offer ooul<f"be auplied to this oountry. Air Nash: They had their agent here in Wellington to-day. Mr Massey: I did not know that.
