BASKETBALL
LEIVIN HIGH SCHOOL y. OTAKI CONVENT. Basketball is rapidly growing in popularity in Otaki and Levin, and on Saturday last the Levin High School repre*eentatives paid a- visit to the Convent* when the latter's team indulged in their first match.- Despite the fact that it was their initial performance, they did remarkably well, and the Levin representatives had by no means an easy win. The contest was a splendid one, fought out in true sporting spirit, while the girls entered into the game with heart and soul. At half-time there was no 6coro, while in the second half the northerners, despite form and experience, scored a majority of five points only—--17-12. Miss Armstrong, who acted as referee, Was delighted with the play, and congratulated th© girls on their excellent l>erformance. She added that she considered the game the best she had yet Witnessed. A return match will be played at Levin. The visitors were royauy entertained at morning tea, which was; fully appreciated, while gramophone selections added to the enjoyment of the day e outing.—''Times*' Otaki Correspondent.
