Bow* den and the Otaki Racing Club has been amicably settled, and that some of Bowden's team will be racing at the Otaki meeting next month. Rational will race this season in the joint interests of Mr H. B. Gibson and Mr W. M. Winks. Miss Beauforte, winner of the Maiden Handicap at Hawera, is by the Multiform horse Guianforte from Excel by Advance from Endeavour. In six starts last season 6he scored a second and a third. The southern horseman, J. Campbell, has decided to. set up as a trainer at Riccarton, and will commence with Ku* kume, by Martian—Persian Lilac. Rapine, who was weighted at 7.8 for the New Zealand Cup, was given 21b over weight-for-age. No other horso was handicapped above weight-for-age When Mr J. B. Reid bought Archery at the Newmarket sales he also bought Twickenham (by Aiglon—Marget Ada, by Sfc. Frusquin) for 640gns. Vespucci and Pluto were sprinted six furlongs on Saturday morning, and the latter had the advantage at the finish. Winning Hit, and Trierman were sent six furlongs together. Trierman opened up a good gap at the start, but Winning Hit overhauled him, and the pair finished together. Royal Mac is putting a lot of dash into bis work at Riccarton. A. MpCormao rode two winners and a second at Hawera on Saturday. The Trentham-trained Vindictive and Lord Desmond have been nominated for hack events at the Wanganui meeting. The New Zealand Cup candidate, Insurrection, who is trained at Trentham, has been nominated for the principal middle distance and sprint handicaps at the Wanganui meeting. The Otaki-trained Pussyfoot ricked a shoulder while .galloping in the paddock recently, and will be spelled for a time. There are about twenty horses work' ing at Otaki at the present time, most of them preparing for the coming meet* ing. F. Higgott is the first out each morning with his string of eix* all of which are doing well. Ares and Printemps are Trentham representatives engaged in the Flying Handicap at the coming Wanganui meeting. Royal Exchange figures among the entrants for the hack hurdle events at the Wanganui meeting. The totalisator , receipts at the EgmontWanganui meeting fell from <£14,233 last year to ,£9950 on Saturday, a decrease of ,£4283. W. Bowden is a regular attendant at the Otaki track, where he ie riding work every morning.
