TROUBLE AT A MINE
THE NGAKAWAU DISPUTE. The special committee, over whioli the Chief Inspector of Machinery will preside, will commence consideration this week of the causes leading up to the strike of miners at the Ngakawau mine on the West Coast. The dispute relates to the alleged victimisation of an onginedriver. Recently it was reported that a strike of all the West Coast miners was likely in tlie event of the Ngakawau trouble not being settled. It is understood, however, that ballots of the miners taken at the various mines on the Coast have been by no means favourable to a general stoppage of work.
