ARE THEY REFUSING TO WORK? By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright. ('Received August 22. 11.15 p.m.) SYDNEY, August 22. The farmers’ conference adopted a resolution condemning the action of the Australian Workers’ Union in refusing to carry on shearing under the terms of Mr Justice Powers’s award, and recommending that if the trouble is not settled before the conference rises all branches of the association will be called upon to send volunteers to the various districts to complete the shearing. It is only a few days since the following cablegram was received from Sydney:—The Graziers’ Association claims that the shearers’ attitude is affecting the shearing position to a very small extent. Plenty of labour is offering, and already over a hundred sheds have started under the award rates.
