HYDRO-ELECTRIC POWER
SUPPLY FOR THE CITY. Negotiations are in progress between a sub-committee of the City Council and officers of the Publio Works Department in regard to the supply of hydro-electric power from Mangahab. There are many points to be decided, but a difficulty has arisen regarding the reported desire of the Department to insist on the corporation taking more current than what it will really require, in view of the fact that the new power-house, which is being built at Evans Bay, will be available to reinforoe the city’s supply from Mangahao. It is suggested that the department’s policy is actuated because various power hoards in the Wellington province will not be ready to take power from Mangahao when it becomes available.
