CHANCE LOST BY COMMONWEALTH. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. MELBOURNE, August 22. Mr Benjamin Lee, a merchant, submitted evidence to the Federal sugar inquiry to the effect that ''he was authorised to purchase from Java: for the Commonwealth, but after making a deal, he was advised that the Commonwealth was dealing through other channels. He could have saved the Commonwealth £67,000 in three deals if the purchases had been made through him.
