HOROWHENUA NOTES

(Special to "N.Z. Times.’’) Constable H. Cole, who has been acting as relieving constable at Otaki, re-, turned to Palmerston North. His place will be filled by Constable Brydon. During Constable Cole's stay in Oteki he has 'proved a roost conscientious officer and leaves behind him many friends. Building operations are brisk at the seaside, and fine residences are being erected for Dr Sharp and Mr Frank Evans. Other buildings will be started on at an early date. Mr Witohell, of Whakatane, is among tho visitors to Otaki. There is at present a deal of sickness in the district. Miss Maudie Johnsen, who has been seriously ill for some time, is now steadily progressing; Mrs W. Balter is still in hospital, but hopes to leave that institution shortly; while Mrs A, L. Moore has left for Auckland for health reasons. Constable Batherloy who has been in Otaki for tho past few days, leaves for Wellington for further medical treatment.
