SAILORS’ FRIEND SOCIETY

The proceedings at Miss J. Lewis’s concert at the Sailors’ Friend Society on Tuesday were touched with brightness, vim, and enjoyment as the vocal and instrumental pieces were rendered. The performers were the Mesdamea Fortune, P. Morgan, Judd, and the Misses Peggy Jones, B. Owen, Judd, and M. Owen, and Messrs McLucke and J. Burns. Mrs E. Fortune was at the piano. ‘■Mistakes Righted” was Mr J. Moore’s chat on temperance matters. Pledges followed. The fun in the competition was a refreshing feature. Prizes came from the hostess and Miss Judd, and went to the Suffolk and Tairoa.
