NEW ZEALAND UNION MANAGEMENT COMMITTED MEETING. Th© weekly meeting of the New Zealand Rugby Union, was held last evening. There were present:—Messrs G. W. Sl&do (chairman), S. S. Dean, A. C. Kit to, W. Glen, E. Little, G. Howe, and 11. A. Griffiths. Several points in connection with the match between the New Zealand team and WairarapA, raised by the Wairarapa CJnion, were disposed of. Suspensions were confirmed in the cases of G. E. Veitcli, J. Scholes, R. Larkins, A. R. McKewen, E. Watson, and W. ’Alears (Otago), and A. Parker and N. Mcuatt (Wellington). A pretest from Newman, in the Bueli district, with reference to the playing of players from a defunct club, was referred back to the Bush district for eohsider&tion. Applications for reinstatement received l up to June 30th, the closing date, weT© approved in twenty-four cases. In three other cases decision is pending. It was reported that two of th© players in th© North-South Island match had been ‘unfit to play when they reached Auckland. The unions concerned are to be asked for m explanation as to why they were allowed to proceed. Mr Dean was appointed manager of th© Nev Zealand team which is to tour New South Wales. It was decided that the match between the Maori team and Auckland should be played as laid down in the original itinerary—on July 22nd. WELLINGTON UNION MATCHES AND SUSPENSIONS. NEW COMMITTEE WANTED. Mr J. Prendeville presided over a. meeting of the Wellington Rugby Union last evening. The secretary of the Poneke team wrote asking whether, ip view of the foot that two Poneke were in the New Zealand team, the Poneke-Marist match could be played either before the departure or after the return of the New Zealand team. Regarding the match against Petone, a request was made that that game be played during the second round, as Petone would also have members absent with the New Zealand team. It was decided to consider the matter at the dose of the meeting. RANFUBLY SHIELD. It was decided to advise that there was no objection to the WellingtonHawke's Bay match on August 9th being a RanfuTly Shield match. RESULT TO STAND. Although a protest had been received against the result of the match standing, owing to the appointed referee not turning ud, Mr Nancarrow officiating in his place, the game in which Hutt beat Oriental by 11 points to 5 was ordered to- stand. CHARITABLE REQUEST. Miss Cameron, hon. secretary of the Society for the Health of Women and Children, wrote asking for a donation, from the charity match to be given lo the society. It was decided to replv that this could not be done as the money had already been apportioned. SUSPENSIONS. Two players, W. Sweeney and S. T. Hunt, were each suspended for two playing Saturdays for striking each other on the field; during a match. J. Crooks, another player, was suspended until he appears before the union to answer a similar charge. <£2500 LOAN. On the proposition, of the chairman It was resolved to make application to the New Zealand Rugby Union for a loan of -£2500 for park improvements or the purchase of the ground at Athletic Park. CANTERBURY'S NORTHERN TOUR. A letter from South Canterbury Rugby Union regretted the inability of the Wellington Rugby Union to carry but the itinerary of fixtures as arranged in Wellington. As their team would be engaged on four dates on the northern tour they asked the Wellington Union to arrange for them to play at Wellington on September 9th. As the dates had been confirmed for the fixtures it was impossible to alter them. It was resolved to reply regretting that th© arrangements desired could not he fitted in> MOASCAR CUP MATCH. The New Zealand Rugby Union wrote' that in the Moascar Cup competition St. Patrick's College play Scots College. As the expenses of the whole competition were heavy and last season's fixtures resulted in a Joss, the New Zealand Union would be glad to have the match played on a Wednesday, so that some revenue could be obtained. It was agreed to consent, subject to the usual terms. NOT A JUDICIAL BODYJa ok son moved that a j udioial committee be appointed to consider cases of suspending players. He urged that the work*of the management committee was getting so heavy that they would have to delegate some of the work to eub-committeee. This committee would the committee of much work. Mr Ward said the control of players and games was an important matter and he did not wish* to see it delegated to anyone outside the management. The chairman seconded the motion pro forma. Mr Law's considered thb time inopportune to p-ass a motion like that, which would delegate their powers to others. He suggested that the matter be brought before itihe annual meeting. Players and public would consider it weakness and say members were afraid to express their opinion. The chairman said he had advocated the idea, two years ago owing to the amount of work to bo done, and members of the committee riufiiing away for trains andi boats before the business was finished. A committee of eleven was an administrative body rather than a judicial one. At the samo time he agreed that it should bo thrashed out by the delegates, but the committee should recommend it. The motion was defeated. WAIRARAPA UNION MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEETS. At a mooting of the management oommittee of the Wairarapa Rugby Union Mr Alf. Johnson presided. It was decided that the, whole of the proceeds, approximately .£SO, from Charity Saturday matches be paid to the Sir Arthur Pearson Fund for the Blind. It was decided that the All-Black v. Wairarapa match ho played on the Mastertan. Park, and that the local Borough Council be asked to accept 71 per cent, of the 2s gate in lieu of 13 per cent, of a shilling fate. Messrs A. Johnson, R. Ward, J). lelvenzio and J. 0. Pinkey wero ’appointed a committee to make all the necessary arrangements for the match. The action of the secretary in offering the Bush Union £2 towards the expenses of playing the junior representative match at Ureytown: was endorsed. The match with Golden Bay Union was fixed for August 23rd at Featherston, the Golden Bay Union to be allowed .£2O towards expenses. It was decided that the Auckland v. Wairarapa match be played at Masterton on August 30tli, and as this and the All-Blnoks match nro boing played on a Wednesday, the tradespeople of the Wairarapa are to be asked to observe n half-holiday on these occasions. Horowhenua was left with the secretary to arrange. It was resolved that the Southern Hawke's Bay match with Wairarapa seniors be played at Carterton next Saturday. The Wairarapa Hospital Board wrote claiming for expenses in respect to two injured footballers who had failed to pay their accounts, and the union decided that the claim could not be recognised. Programmes are to be issued for representative matches, the proceeds to go to the Accident Insurance Fund. It was decided that the South Canterbury match be played at Greytown on September 6th. The Wairarapa junior representative team going on tonr will play the Bush at Pahiatua on August 3rd, and Hawke’s Bay at Napier on August sth.
