MONACO PRINCIPALITY
EX-SMITHFIELD BUTCHER CLAIMS SUCCESSION. LATE PRINCE’S SON FAVOURED. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Received July 3, 7.5 p.m.) LONDON, July 3. The “Daily Express” Monte Carlo correspondent reports that George Frederick Grimaldi, formerly a butcher at Smithfield, created a sensation in official circles by claiming succession to tho principality of Monaco. It is recalled that the Pope in 1880 annulled the marriage of the late Prince with the daughter of the eleventh Duke of Hamilton, but Louis, the son of that marriage is likely to succeed in view of his popularity in the State. It will be recalled that Prince Albert of Monaco died in a nursing home in Paris a few days ago.
